The Hong Kong based Brazilian ace Joao Moreira has been booked to ride Scheidel (Aus) (Holy Roman Emperor {Ire}) in Friday evening's G1 Moir S. at Moonee Valley. Moreira has partnered the Hayes/Dabernig trained mare to success twice in the past, including once at the top level when steering her home in front in the G1 Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield in February and the 6-year-old will enter the five furlong dash on the back of a promising comeback run when fourth to Voodoo Lad (Aus) (I Am Invincible {Aus}) in the G3 The Heath 1100 at Caulfield earlier this month. The Moir S. is certainly shaping into a cracking contest with G1 Longines Golden Slipper winner She Will Reign (Aus) (Manhattan Rain {Aus}) also in the lineup as she begins her preparation towards The Everest next month. Kerrin McEvoy partnered the Gary Portelli trained filly in a recent barrier trial at Rosehill and will again be in the saddle on Friday. Russian Revolution (Aus) (Snitzel {Aus}) currently heads the market for the race having proven his well-being with a fluent win over the course and distance in the G2 Mitty's McEwen S. Sept. 9 while last year's G1 Darley Classic winner Malaguerra (Aus) (Magnus {Aus}) is also fancied to bounce back from his last few underwhelming efforts.
