Monsun's Vadamos Captures the Messidor

Vadamos | Scoop Dyga

Vadamos is one of those who fits into the elite category of earning the close attention of Andre Fabre and he gave the first glimpse of what his trainer saw when powering to success over this trip in Baden-Baden's G2 Oettingen-Rennen in September. Blowing out when last of 13 tackling a mile and a quarter in the G1 QIPCO Champion S. at Ascot the following month, the dark bay was back at this trip for his return when 1 1/2-lengths second to Solow (GB) (Singspiel {Ire}) in a conditions event on Chantilly's Polytrack Mar. 3 before again trailing in a big event when 11th of the dozen runners in Meydan's G1 Dubai World Cup 23 days later. Reverting to a mile to inflict a heavy defeat on His Highness The Aga Khan's G1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches, G1 Coronation S. and G1 Prix du Moulin heroine Ervedya (Fr) (Siyouni {Fr}) in the G2 Prix du Muguet at Saint-Cloud May 1, the homebred was left floundering like all of the opponents of A Shin Hikari (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}) when fourth in the nine-furlong G1 Prix d'Ispahan at Chantilly May 24. Settled in third early as Shutterbug (Fr) (Soldier of Fortune {Ire}) set a demanding tempo, Vadamos moved up with Mr Owen to wrest the lead from that rival passing the furlong pole. Responding with a surge to a slap with Vincent Cheminaud's whip to put his seal on the race with 150 metres remaining, he really stretched to the line in the manner of a high-class performer to suggest a group 1 prize will soon be in the offing. The winner hails from the Aga Khan's “V” dynasty which Fabre has enjoyed a close connection with via the listed-winning dam Celebre Vadala and her half-brother Valixir (Ire) (Trempolino). During the trainer's spell training for that owner-breeder, this was one of his benchmark horses with wins in the G1 Queen Anne S. and G1 Prix d'Ispahan. Fabre also initially trained Valixir's relation Val Royal (Fr) to win the G2 Prix Guillaume d'Ornano prior to his GI Breeders' Cup Mile victory for Julio Canani. Other members of note include Vadaza (Fr) (Zafonic), whose progeny include the G1 Prix Saint-Alary-winning pair of Vazira (Fr) (Sea the Stars {Ire}) and Vadawina (Ire) (Unfuwain), and also the G1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains and G1 Prix Jacques le Marois scorer Vahorimix (Fr) (Linamix {Fr}). Celebre Vadala also has a 2-year-old colt named Volfango (Ire) by Dutch Art (GB) and a yearling colt by Pour Moi (Ire).
