With more than a decade riding in the U.S., primarily in the Mid-Atlantic, jockey Mychel Sanchez recorded the 2,000th victory of his North American career Thursday at Colonial Downs when he won the last race aboard Princess Summer (Mastery), a 12-1 Mike Maker trainee.
Sanchez, who has earned nearly $70 million in purses, began Thursday with 1,998 career wins, but also won Colonial's first race with Call Me Andy (Midshipman) for trainer Jamie Ness. Originally from Venezuela, Sanchez is regularly among the leading riders at both Colonial Downs and Parx Racing.
