Milan Gelding Tops Derby Day Two

A 3-year-old gelded son of Milan (GB) (lot 318) topped day two of the Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale on Thursday when hammered down to Bottlle Hill Stud for €145,000. He was one of 17 six-figure transactions on the day, which also included MV Magnier's €125,000 purchase of a 3-year-old gelded son of Fame And Glory (GB) (lot 263), who successfully flew the flag for the Coolmore partners in races like the Irish Derby, Tattersalls Gold Cup, Coronation Cup and Gold Cup before retiring to Grange Stud. Magnier also signed for lot 383, a son of Dylan Thomas (Ire), for €100,000.

Highflyer Bloodstock was active at the top of the market on Thursday, purchasing a pair for €125,000 apiece: lot 307, a son of Oscar (Ire) and lot 233, a son of Presenting (GB).

A total of 160 lots were sold on the day for an aggregate of €7,981,500, an average of €49,884 (+4%) and a median of €42,000 (+14%). Total receipts for the two days stands at €17,665,500 for 342 sold at an average of €51,654 (+9%) and a median of €42,500 (+18%). The overall clearance rate was 84%, up from 82% last year.
