MARKING (c, 3, Bernardini–Seventh Street {MGISW, $716,000}, by Street Cry {Ire}) maintained his perfect record with a facile success at Aqueduct Wednesday afternoon. The bay earned 'TDN Rising Star' status and a 91 Beyer in his Belmont debut when motoring home first by 2 3/4 lengths Sept. 23and the betting public made the Godolphin homebred the heavy 3-5 crowd's pick for this second appearance. Flashing good early speed from stall seven, Jose Lezcano wrangled Marking back to perch three deep in third as a rival sizzled through a testing half in :45.62. Always traveling nicely, the sophomore sauntered up to take a head advantage after six furlongs in 1:10.07 and quickened home to score by 5 1/2 lengths over longshot Gridley Here (Repent), who was far back early. The winner's dam foaled a colt by Tapit in 2015 and was bred back to that sire this spring. Lifetime Record: 2-2-0-0, $85,200. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
