The Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale drew to a close on Friday with a low-key, single-session Book 2 that saw 82 broodmares, race fillies and maiden mares sell for a total of A$599,250. Figures for Book 2 were well up on last year, with the average up to A$7,308 from A$2,765, and the median climbing to A$4,000 from A$1,200. The buyback rate also improved, to 17.2% from 23%.

The 4-year-old daughter of dual group winner Laura's Charm (Aus) (Encosta de Lago {Aus}) offered by Widden Stud is a four-time winner.

The next highest price was A$35,000, paid by Mane Lodge for the six-time winning maiden mare Burleigh Bullet (Aus) (All Bar One) (lot 1537).
