Longines To Extend Partnership With Breeders' Cup

Officials at Longines have announced that the company has agreed to extend its partnership with the Breeders' Cup and in addition to being the title sponsor for the GI Breeders' Cup Turf, it will also serve as the title sponsor for the GI Breeders' Cup Classic. It marks the first time that the $6-million centerpiece of Breeders' Cup weekend will carry a brand before its name.

“For years, Longines' unwavering support of the Breeders' Cup and the horse racing industry has been extraordinary, and we are greatly pleased that they have expanded our partnership to a new level,” said Drew Fleming, Executive Vice President and COO of Breeders' Cup. “The Longines Breeders' Cup Classic is one of the world's greatest horse races and it's hard to imagine a better brand fit when matched with the elegance and prestige of Longines.”

Added Matthieu Baumgartner, Vice President of Marketing for Longines: “Longines is pleased to renew its association with the Breeders' Cup and to become the Title Partner of the Longines Breeders' Cup Classic. Our involvement in horse racing dates back to the 1870s, when Longines developed its first chronograph movement, used on the American racetracks. 140 years later, as the Official Partner, Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of the much-awaited Breeders' Cup, Longines reaffirms its long-lasting passion with the discipline.”

Longines also serves as the official timekeeper for the Breeders' Cup.
