Kyllachy Pensioned From Stud Duties

Kyllachy (GB) (Pivotal {GB}-Pretty Poppy {GB}, by Song {GB}) has been pensioned from stud duties at Cheveley Park Stud after suffering fertility problems. The G1 Nunthorphe S. winner has sired a trio of Group 1 winners: the dual Nunthorpe and King's Stand S. winner Sole Power (GB), the Golden Shaheen winner Krypton Factor (GB) and G1 Sprint Cup winner Twilight Son (GB), who also stands at Cheveley Park.

Trained by Henry Candy for Thurloe Thoroughbreds, Kyllachy was a 2-year-old debut winner but was at his best at four, winning the G3 Palace House S. and G2 Temple S. in the spring. He was third in the G2 King's Stand S. before wrapping up his career with a win in the Nunthorpe.

Kyllachy was the leading British-based first-season sire in 2005. He sired seven Group 2 winners in addition to his three Group 1 winners, the most recent being this year's G2 Queen Mary S. winner Heartache (GB).

Kyllachy will now enjoy his retirement at Cheveley Park, and that operation's Managing Director Chris Richardson said, “Kyllachy has been a true flagbearer for Cheveley Park Stud over the years, with his stock having been embraced by owners and trainers alike. His record speaks for itself, having produced tough, genuine and competitive horses at every level, and we are fortunate and delighted that Kyllachy's legacy lives on in his highly talented, dual Group 1 winner, Twilight Son.”
