King Kreesa Headed to Fourstardave

King Kreesa | A. Coglianese

Gerald and Susan Kreesa's King Kreesa (King Cugat) will make his next start in Saratoga's GII Fourstardave H. Aug. 15.

“The timing is good,” trained David Donk said. “It will be five weeks off his last race. He's done well. He's coming off a pretty big effort.”

The New York-bred scored a 17-1 upset in Belmont's GIII Poker S. June 13 and captured that venue's Forbidden Apple S. last time July 11 over a field that included GISW Wicked Strong (Hard Spun) and MGSW Vyjack (Into Mischief).

This will be King Kreesa's second attempt at the Fourstardave, after finishing second behind two-time Horse of the Year Wise Dan (Wiseman's Ferry) in the 2013 renewal.

“I think his second-place finish to Wise Dan is perhaps his biggest race,” Donk said.

The 6-year-old is scheduled to work over Saratoga's main track Saturday.
