Jersey Shore Goes to Uncle Mo Colt

Front Pocket Money | Equi-Photo

Front Pocket Money set a swift pace before settling for fourth in his Oaklawn unveiling Mar. 26, and defeated older horses and two next-out winners when earning his diploma at that venue Apr. 16. He bested another subsequent scorer when switched to the Churchill turf May 5, and was beaten a neck when attempting to clear another condition back over five panels of Louisville lawn June 12. Breaking on top from his rail draw, the bay moved up without much encouragement to show the way through an opening quarter in :22.02. Challenged by Colonel Sharp through a half in :45.51, he shook free from that foe in midstretch and was always doing enough to hold off Yellow Chips late.

“My horse broke sharp and he felt comfortable on the lead,” said winning pilot Antonio Gallardo. “I had a lot of pressure the whole way, but my horse loves to fight and he fought until the end. When he felt the horse coming on the inside down the stretch, I felt that he wanted to go again.”

Pedigree Notes:

The first foal out of an unraced dam, Front Pocket Money hails from a grass-leaning Flaxman Holdings family. His second dam produced Irish SW and French G1SP Honoured Guest (Ire) (Danehill), while his third dam is the British GSP Wild Planet. Wild Planet's daughter Surya (Unbridled) was a two-time graded stakes winner on the Hollywood Park lawn, and was the dam of American Grade I-winning grasser Aruna (Mr. Greeley) and Grade II winner Hoop of Colour (Distorted Humor).
