James Garfield Sires First Foal

A filly by James Garfield out of Butsova a few hours old | Stetchworth and Middle Park Studs

The first reported foal for MGSW & G1SP James Garfield (Ire) (Exceed And Excel {Aus}) was a filly born at Stetchworth and Middle Park Studs on the evening of Jan. 21, Rathbarry Stud announced on Wednesday. Owned by Stetchworth and Middle Park, the filly is out of Butsova (Ire) (Dansili {GB}), herself a half-sister to G3 Balanchine S. heroine Bye Bye Birdie (Ire) (Oasis Dream {GB}). This is the extended family of Eclipse Champion Grass Mare Dank (GB) (Dansili {GB}), Irish highweight and G1 Hong Kong Cup hero Eagle Mountain (GB) (Rock of Gibraltar {Ire}) and French/English highweight Sulk (Ire) (Selkirk), a Group 1 winner in France. James Garfield holds court at Rathbarry Stud and will stand for €6,000 in 2020.
