Ivawood Retired To Coolmore

Last year's dual Group 2-winning juvenile Ivawood (Ire) (Zebedee {GB}) has been retired from racing and will enter stud in 2016 at Coolmore's base in Tipperary, Ireland. A 220,000gns yearling, Ivawood raced for Carmichael Jennings and trainer Richard Hannon, winning the G2 July S. and G2 Richmond S. in his second and third starts last July. Second by a nose in the G1 Middle Park S. in his juvenile swansong, Ivawood was third behind fellow future Coolmore stallion Gleneagles (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) in the G1 Qipco 2000 Guineas and G1 Tattersalls Irish 2000 Guineas in May. He was last seen finishing off the board in the G2 Park S. at Doncaster Sept. 12.

Ivawood has tremendous presence and is a big, powerful colt with a beautiful action,” said Coolmore's Tom Gaffney. “He's one of the highest-rated 2-year-olds ever from the Green Desert sire line and won the G2 July S. and G2 Richmond S. in faster times than Shalaa, so that tells you how exceptionally fast he is.” A fee will be announced at a later date.
