Impressive Conde Win For Lawman's Luminate

Luminate | Scoop Dyga

The only filly in the line-up, Luminate stepped up markedly from her winning Deauville debut over a mile Aug. 22 to dominate the colts and suggest she can be a leading player in the 2018 Classics. Settled in a clear second early as the G3 Prix des Chenes winner Stage Magic (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}) set out to make it a test, the bay was able to brush him aside passing the 300-metre marker and readily assert under hand riding from Aurelien Lemaitre to register an impressive success as the colts finished strung out. “When she won at Deauville, I really thought she would stay well in the future and that is the case,” trainer Freddy Head said. “I expected a good run, but not for her to win so easily. She loved the trip and the very soft ground and I think we'll put her away for the season now. I know there is the [G1] Criterium de Saint-Cloud, but I doubt she will run in that.”
Luminate's dam Kalandara is a half-sister to the GI Breeders' Cup Turf and G1 Champion S.-winning sire Kalanisi (Ire), as well as the G2 Scottish Derby winner and G1 St. James's Palace S. runner-up Kalaman (Ire) (Desert Prince {Ire}) and the Listed Prix Melisande scorer and G2 Prix de Malleret second Kaloura (Ire) (Sinndar {Ire}). The second dam Kalamba is a full-sister to the Listed Diamond S. winner Karaferya, as well as a half to the excellent producer Jeanetta Cochrane (Ire) (Sadler's Wells) whose progeny list is headed by the G2 Queensland Guineas-winning sire Saxon (Aus). Kalandara also has a yearling filly by Lope de Vega (Ire) and a colt full-brother to Luminate.
