In this continuing series, we take a look ahead at US-bred and/or conceived runners entered for the upcoming weekend at the tracks on the Japan Racing Association circuit, with a focus on pedigree and/or performance in the sales ring. Here are the horses of interest for this weekend running at Hanshin Racecourse:

Saturday, March 4, 2023
4th-HSN, ¥10,480,000 ($77k), Maiden, 3yo, 1800m
CIRCULATE (JPN) (c, 3, Curlin–Sower, by Flatter) is the first foal from his dam, a two-time stakes winner and twice placed at graded level for Len Green and Linda Rice and sold to Haruya Yoshida for $850,000 carrying this colt in utero at the 2019 Keeneland November Sale. A half-sister to SW Vast (Lea) and from the family of Archipenko, Blame, Nureyev and Sadler's Wells, Sower has since produced colts by Just A Way (Jpn) and the late Duramente (Jpn). B-Oiwake Farm

Sunday, March 5, 2023
2nd-HSN, ¥10,480,000 ($77k), Maiden, 3yo, 1200m
JUZCAR (c, 3, American Pharoah–Blue Bahia, by Wildcat Heir) failed to land a serious blow in a pair of 2-year-old appearances, but turned in a much-improved effort on his sophomore debut Feb. 11 to finish a close third over course and distance behind Gran Pharaoh (American Pharoah), remarkably also bred by Dennis Drazin (see below, SC 4). A $380,000 OBS March acquisition by Katsumi Yoshida just under a year ago, the Feb. 28 foal is out of a stakes-winning half-sister to the multiple stakes-placed Christiesborntorun (Grand Slam) and a full-sister to SP Chocolare Wildcat. B-Dennis A Drazin (KY)
