Hurstel Resigns From PMU

Xavier Hurstel | Scoop Dyga

Xavier Hurstel, Chairman and CEO of the PMU, resigned his position at Europe's largest betting operator on Thursday, it was reported in the Jour de Galop and Equidia. Hurstel said he would leave the company in early November. Current Deputy Chief Executive Officer Alain Resplandy-Bernard will fill the position until a new CEO is named. Hurstel has been with the PMU since 2008, and the CEO since 2014, when he took over for Philippe Germond when he left the company to work for Europcar. Thursday morning, he sent a long letter to employees in which he told them he would be joining a “large publicly traded French technological group, a leader in its field, with a presence in many countries and several tens of thousands of employees in order to head their transformation. My decision to accept this challenge is a logical next-step after these 10 years spent at the PMU, which has undergone a profound transformation to serve the evolution of its strategy in the service of development for the equine industry.”
