G1 Coral-Eclipse and G1 Dubai Sheema Classic winner Hawkbill (Kitten's Joy) will relocate to Darley Japan for 2020 after standing his first season at Dalham Hall Stud this year at £7,500.

Trained by Charlie Appleby for Godolphin, Hawkbill won three consecutive stakes races culminating in the Coral-Eclipse over The Gurkha (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) to begin his 3-year-old campaign in 2016. Put away for the winter after a third in the G1 Grosser Preis von Bayern, he picked up wins in the G3 Al Rayyan S. and G2 Princess of Wales's S. at four in addition to placings in the Group 1 Coronation Cup, Grosser Preis von Berlin and Northern Dancer Turf S. An abbreviated Dubai campaign the following March proved very fruitful, with the chestnut taking the G2 Dubai City of Gold and the Sheema Classic. He is the leading earner by Kitten' s Joy.

Harry Sweeney, President of Darley Japan, said, “Hawkbill is a big good looking and correct horse and I believe he will very much suit Japanese mares. If his progeny look like him, then they certainly will be popular at the sales.”
