Gun Runner (Candy Ride {Arg}), off since finishing second behind Arrogate (Unbridled's Song) in the Mar. 25 G1 Dubai World Cup, worked five furlongs in :59.80 at Churchill Downs Monday. The 4-year-old is expected to start next in the June 17 GI Stephen Foster H. With jockey Florent Geroux in the irons, Gun Runner breezed through fractions of :12.20, :24.20, :36 and :47.80 before galloping out six furlongs in 1:12 and seven furlongs in 1:25.20.
“He's an awesome horse,” trainer Steve Asmussen said of Gun Runner, who counts the GI Clark H. among his victories at Churchill Downs.
