Group 1 Winner Peeping Dies

This year's G1 Coolmore Classic winner Peeping (Aus) (Redoute's Choice {Aus}–Miss Marielle {Aus}, by Encosta de Lago {Aus}) has died due to complications from colic, according to published reports. Trained by Ron Quinton and campaigned as a homebred by Tom Kelly and Suffolk Vale & Co, the 4-year-old Peeping won the Listed Sebring S. as a 3-year-old and the G2 Golden Pendant S. last September. She had finished third in a Group 1-quality field in the G2 Guy Walter S. Feb. 27 and was trying Group 1 company for the first time in the Coolmore Classic Mar. 12, where she bested the next-out G1 Queen Of The Turf S. winner Azkadellia (NZ) (Shinko King {Ire}), with subsequent G1 Queen Elizabeth S. winner Lucia Valentina (NZ) (Savabeel {Aus}) back in fourth. Peeping was spelling in New South Wales when she suffered the colic attack.
