With substantial across-the-board increases in average, median and gross during Wednesday's session, the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale rolled on in Lexington with a weanling colt from the first crop of Graydar leading the way.

Keeneland sold 242 horses for $3,963,600 during the session, good for an average of $16,379 (+44.8%) and a median of $10,000 (+48.1%). To date, 2,200 horses have changed hands for $215,985,500. The cumulative average of $98,175 is 12.6% above last year's figure of $87,162, while the median of $40,000 has remained the same.

Bred in Kentucky by Glendalough, the second foal out of the unraced First Samurai mare Karate Gal brought $190,000 from Twin Creeks Racing to top Wednesday's session. His second dam is Gasparilla S. winner and GIII La Troienne S. runner-up Cool Spell (Grand Slam). Glendalough purchased the 6-year-old Karate Gal while in foal to Colonel John for $55,000 at the 2013 KEENOV sale. Wednesday's topper was consigned by Shawhan Place LLC, agent for Glendalough LLC, as Hip 3521.

Graydar, winner of the 2013 GI Donn H., was campaigned by Randy Gullatt and Steve Davison's aforementioned operation and trained by Todd Pletcher. Graydar has had 14 weanlings sell for an average of $93,286 at the Keeneland November sale thus far. Graydar stood both the 2014 and 2015 seasons for $15,000 at Taylor Made Stallions in Nicholasville, Ky.

Judy Legend (Medaglia d'Oro), consigned by Sheltowee Sales as a broodmare prospect as Hip 3514, was the second-highest lot on the day, bringing $180,000 from Ashview Farm. The 4-year-old maiden of seven career starts is a daughter of the Quiet American mare Andujar, heroine of the GII Milady Breeders' Cup H. and GI Go For Wand H. third-place finisher. Judy Legend is a half-sister to stakes winners Marion Ravenwood (A.P. Indy) and Abstraction (Pulpit). Judy Legend was bred and campaigned by My Meadowview Farm. Len Riggio purchased Andujar for $2.5 million at the 2006 FTKNOV sale.

During Wednesday's session, Hill 'n' Dale Sales Agency led consignors with 17 sold for $374,000. Calumet led all buyers with four purchased for $242,000. The sale continues through Friday with sessions beginning at 10 a.m. For more, visit www.keeneland.com.
