Grand Prix Glory For Silver Frost's Silverwave

Warming up with a return third in the G1 Prix Ganay at Saint-Cloud at the start of last month, Silverwave arrived late on the scene to justify favouritism as connections plot his way back to the G1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud he won last year. Still relatively lightly-raced, the bay also captured the G2 Prix Foy over this course and distance in September before finishing 13th in the Arc and 12th in the Dec. 11 G1 Hong Kong Vase. On his return, he caught the eye when closing from off the pace to be third behind Cloth of Stars (Ire) (Sea the Stars {Ire}) in the Ganay and the form of that 10 1/2-furlong contest had received boosts in the interim from the fifth and sixth Hawkbill (Kitten's Joy) and Guignol (Ger) (Cape Cross {Ire}) respectively. Settled last of the quintet by Pierre-Charles Boudot, he was sent after Talismanic in the straight and mastered that rival in the final furlong for an ultimately comfortable win. “He ran a good race on his return over a trip too short and had done very well since,” trainer Pascal Bary commented. “That was very satisfactory and confirmed he is in great form. Obviously, his next race will be the [July 2] G1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud.”

Silverwave is one of four black-type performers and two group 1 winners out of the unraced Miss Bio, with the other being the Prix Jean Prat-winning sire Stormy River (Fr) whose numerous top-level placings included a third in the Poule d'Essai des Poulians. Miss Bio is a half to the GIII Prix Miesque and GIII Senorita S. winner Fantastic Filly (Fr) (Myrakalu {Fr}), whose two black-type-gaining daughters include this year's G3 Prix Imprudence third Silver Storm (Fr) (Kendargent {Fr}). The third dam is Riverstar, who is a half to the G1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches, G1 Prix Saint-Alary and G1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud heroine and stakes-producing Riverqueen (Fr) (Luthier {Fr}). The dam has an unraced 2-year-old filly by Siyouni (Fr) named Storm To the Sea (Fr) and a yearling colt by Le Havre (Ire).
