This week sees the third running of the Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) National Championships at Aintree Racecourse's International Equestrian Centre with the event featuring the Goffs UK and ROA National Showing Championships. Almost 300 former racehorses have been entered for the six-day event, including national hunt Grade 1 winners such as Monet's Garden (Ire), Grand Crus (Fr) and Peddlers Cross (Ire) with the many household names taking part in both dressage and showjumping classes. In their careers on the racecourse the horses taking part this week competed in 4,707 races, won 560 races and £6.6 million in prize money. As well as Grade 1 winners, several former favourites with racegoers hold entries including Annacotty (Ire), Midnight Chase (GB), Monkerty Tunkerty (GB) and Mad Moose (Ire). Commenting on the sponsorship Goffs UK managing director Tony Williams said, “Goffs UK are 100% committed to the care and welfare of horses and are delighted to sponsor this important event which actively promotes the diverse use of the thoroughbred, especially in retirement. We have sponsored Aintree Racecourses' Aintree National Show for the last two years and are pleased to be expanding our involvement in these events.”
