COMPLEXITY (c, 3, Maclean's Music–Goldfield, by Yes It's True) earned TDN Rising Star status in his juvenile unveiling when scoring by 4 1/4 lengths over subsequent GSW Harvey Wallbanger (Congrats) and SW King for a Day (Uncle Mo) at Saratoga in September before registering another front-running score in the GI Champagne S. in October. Given the rest of the season off following a 10th-place finish in the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile the following month, he resurfaced with an equally-disappointing 11th in Belmont's GI Woody Stephens June 8. Installed the 2-1 second choice in this return, the bay he stalked a respectable pace in third, moved up to take control at the quarter pole and increased his advantage from there, scoring by 7 1/4 lengths over favored Mr. Dougie Fresh (Ghostzapper). The winner is a half to Valadorna (Curlin), GSW & GISP, $670,265. Goldfield is also responsible for an unraced juvenile filly by Astrology named Affirmation in addition to a yearling filly by Curlin. After producing a colt by Pioneerof the Nile this season, she was bred back to Curlin. Sales history: $375,000 Ylg '17 KEESEP. Lifetime Record: 5-3-0-0, $367,350.
