New Zealand Bloodstock (NZB)'s gavelhouse.com's online sale saw the business hit major milestones on Monday. From 40 lots offered online, the gross totalled NZ$587,800, bringing the total sales since gavelhouse launched in April of 2016 to over NZ$3 million. Clearance rate was 93%, topped by broodmare Ampin (NZ) (Pins {Aus}) as lot 31 from the Gartshore Bloodstock dispersal. The daughter of G1 New Zealand 1000 Guineas runner-up Ambitious (NZ) (Last Tycoon {Ire}), who is a half-sister to Australian Group 3 winner and G1 Australian Guineas bridesmaid Strike the Stars (NZ) (Savabeel {Aus}) was carrying to New Zealand champion sire Savabeel (Aus). Also a half-sister to Best Case (NZ) (Savabeel {Aus}), who was third in the G1 South Australian Derby, Ampin brought NZ$211,000 from bloodstock agent John Foote.

“gavelhouse.com has well and truly exceeded our expectations,” said NZB managing director Andrew Seabrook. “In a little over a year, the company has sold 531 horses for just under NZ$3.1 million. Providing a consistent and cost effective platform for our clients to sell their horses throughout the year has been key. Whilst gavelhouse.com isn't going to have an effect on the yearling and 2-year-old sales at Karaka in the immediate future, the results online in recent times are proving that quality horses will sell very well. Our clients, vendors and buyers alike, have really embraced the concept and I'm sure it's only going to keep growing.”

A significant drop in the July 28 NZB's Winter Mixed Bloodstock Sale entries due to the increased participation in the gavelhouse.com online auction platform has seen that sale cancelled.
