Free Eagle On The Comeback Trail

'TDN Rising Star' Free Eagle (Ire) (High Chaparral {Ire}) is scheduled to have a workout, after which trainer Dermot Weld will formulate a plan for the 4-year-old's seasonal debut. The Moyglare Stud colorbearer was set to return in the G1 Tattersalls Gold Cup at The Curragh last month, but was removed from that contest after suffering what was described as a head cold.

“Free Eagle is in good form,” Weld said. “He will do a bit of work later in the week and then we will decide where he'll go.”

Free Eagle has made just four starts over two seasons on the track. As a juvenile he finished second to dual Derby winner Australia (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) in the G3 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Trial S., and he returned from a year layoff last year to annex the G3 Enterprise S. by seven lengths before finishing third in the G1 Champion S.
