France To Reduce Weight Allowance

Hayley Turner | Racing Post

Nine months after it implemented a 2kg (4.4lb) weight allowance for female riders, France Galop has announced it will trim the allowance to 1.5kgs for flat races, Racing Post reports. The new allowance will take effect Mar. 1. France Galop's review found that women rode 165% more winners with the weight allowance, and got twice as many rides during that period.

One of the beneficiaries of the allowance was Hayley Turner, who rode 10 winners before picking up a three-month ban for opening an online betting account while holding a jockeys' license.
