Elm Park To Miss Summer

Elm Park | Racing Post

Qatar Racing's Elm Park (GB) (Phoenix Reach {Ire}), not seen since a fifth in the G1 Queen Elizabeth II S. at Ascot in October, will be sidelined until the autumn at the earliest after suffering a setback last month while training towards the G1 Lockinge S.

“Sadly, Elm Park picked up an injury at Kempton during a racecourse gallop and he will be out until the autumn, which is a shame,” said trainer Andrew Balding. “He picked up a strain and we will just have to act on veterinary advice. There is no particular time scale as to when he will back. He will be ready when he is ready. I still have high hopes for him.”

Elm Park won the 2014 G1 Racing Post Trophy and was third in last year's G2 Dante S. before checking in 11th of 12 in the G1 Investec Derby. He picked up a win when dropped back to a mile in Sandown's Listed Fortune S. in September, and was beaten 2 3/4 lengths by Solow (GB) (Singspiel {Ire}) in the QEII.
