Eleven Go Forward For Coronation

Journey could take on the colts in the Coronation Cup | Racing Post

By

The John Gosden trained Jack Hobbs (GB) (Halling) is a notable absentee from the G1 Investec Coronation Cup at Epsom next Friday as eleven horses stand their ground for the twelve furlong event. Aidan O'Brien has left four horses in the race headed by multiple Group 1 winner Highland Reel (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) who could be joined by Idaho (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), Johannes Vermeer (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and US Army Ranger (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}). With Jack Hobbs missing the race Godolphin have supplemented Frontiersman (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) and he could be joined by fellow Charlie Appleby trained Hawkbill (Kitten's Joy) and Saeed Bin Suroor's Prize Money (GB) (Authorized {Ire}). The John Gosden trained Group 1 winner Journey (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) is an intriguing entry as George Strawbridge's homebred has yet to take on a colt or gelding in her career to date. Ralph Beckett's Air Pilot (GB) (Zamindar), Ed Dunlop's Red Verdon (Lemon Drop Kid) and the Andrew Balding trained filly Elbereth (GB) (Mount Nelson {GB}) complete the lineup.
