Dunlop Happy With Cup Pair

Red Cadeaux | Racing Post

Ed Dunlop is counting down the days to the G1 Melbourne Cup as he bids to atone for some agonizing near misses in the race with Red Cadeaux (GB) (Cadeaux Genereux). The globetrotting 9-year-old will make his fifth appearance in the race and will also be joined by stable-mate Trip To Paris (Ire) (Champs Elysees). Red Cadeaux has already proved his ability to deal with the race finishing second three times and although he pulled a shoe in training a few days ago Dunlop, who arrived in Australia on Monday, reported him perfectly on target. “Pulling the shoe caused us no problems whatsoever and he was due to have a rest day on Monday anyway given he galloped on Sunday. The shoe is now back on and the horse is happy and well.” Trip To Paris went into many expert's notebooks with a fine Australian debut when second in the G1 Caulfield Cup Oct. 17 and Dunlop also had a positive report on the G1 Ascot Gold Cup winner commenting, “Trip To Paris remains in fine form 10 days after his Caulfield Cup run. We have a week to go until the big one and everything is ship shape with both of our contenders.”
