Martaline (GB) (Linamix {Fr}-Coraline {GB}, by Sadler's Wells), a dual-purpose sire based at Haras de Montaigu throughout his stud career, has died aged 20.

Montaigu's Sybille Gibson said on Tuesday, “Martaline is dead. His heart stopped during his daily time outside in his paddock. He is going to leave an immense void at Haras de Montaigu, but his blood is not extinguished due to all the champions he has sired.”

Bred and raced by Khalid Abdullah and trained by Andre Fabre, Martaline was a winner at two and listed-placed at three, but it was as an older horse that he was at his best. He won the G3 Prix d'Hedouville and the G2 Prix Maurice de Nieuil at four and added the listed Prix de Reux at five. His progeny include the G1 Ryanair Chase winner Dynaste (Fr) and dual Grade 1 winner Disko (Fr), and G3 La Coupe de Maisons-Laffitte winner Akarlina (Fr) on the flat.
