Del Mar Thoroughbred Club, this year's host of the Breeders' Cup, will offer a record fall stakes schedule worth $3,375,000. The fall meet kicks off Wednesday, Nov. 1. A total of twenty-two stakes will be offered through the 16-day session, including seven races on the Breeders' Cup day undercards. The Breeders' Cup will be staged Friday, Nov. 3 and Saturday, Nov. 4. Last fall the track held 14 stakes worth $2.05 million.
Outside of the Breeders' Cup, the meet will feature 12 graded races, with a pair of those Grade I. The Grade I stakes–the $300,000 Hollywood Derby and the $300,000 Matriarch S.– will lead three-stake programs on closing weekend Nov. 25 and Nov. 26, respectively.
Friday's Breeders' Cup card–featuring four Breeders' Cup races–will be supplemented by a quartet of Del Mar stakes: the Damascus S.; the Golden State Juvenile Fillies S.; the GIII Senator Ken Maddy S.; and the GII Marathon S. Saturday's Breeders' Cup program-consisting of nine Breeders' Cup races-has three additional Del Mar stakes: the GII Goldikova S.; the Golden State Juvenile S.; and the QREC Juvenile Turf Sprint.
The track's Nov. 23 early Thanksgiving Day card–starting at 11 a.m.–will feature the GIII Red Carpet S., while Thanksgiving Friday's program will be highlighted by GII Hollywood Turf Cup.
