A chestnut filly by Creative Cause brought a final bid of $850,000 from trainer Linda Rice, bidding on behalf of Kaitar Racing, during Friday's final session of the OBS April sale. Hip 999 is out of stakes winner Santina Dond (El Prado {Ire}), who is a half-sister to graded stakes winner Patton's Victory, as well as to the dam of graded stakes winner Zivo (True Direction). The youngster was purchased by Solana Beach for $100,000 at last year's Keeneland September sale. Solana Beach, a pinhooking partnership led by Billy Koch, also enjoyed a big score at last year's OBS April sale, selling the sale-topping Broken Vow colt for $1.2 million. That colt was a $105,000 Keeneland September yearling purchase.
