Constitution's Laura's Light Wins Honeymoon

Laura's LightBenoit

Laura's Light got the bob to take home the GIII Honeymoon S. Saturday in Arcadia. Seizing the early advantage, the gray was overtaken by Parkour (Carpe Diem), who shot out to a clear lead, clocking a half-mile in :46.98. Laura's Light remained patient, slowly closing in on the leader approaching the bend. Taking control in the lane, she was chased home by Stela Star and Croughavouke, but held them off to the line.

“She's a gutty little filly and I can't say enough about the ride Abel gave her,” said Peter Miller. “It was a world class ride. Great judge of pace and knowing when to push the button, that was Abel today…I'm happy for Mr. Barber, this has been a very difficult period for all of us and it's great to be back racing.  We've got a lot of options with her. Del Mar's all about turf racing for 3-year-olds and we're looking forward to it.”

A debut winner for Scott Herbertson and trainer Jamey Thomas, Laura's Light was privately purchased by Gary Barber and transferred to Peter Miller. Runner-up in the GIII Jimmy Durante S., she captured the Blue Norther S. in Arcadia in December and followed suit with a win in the GIII Sweet Life S. Feb. 16. She faded to fourth last time on the synthetic at Turfway in the Bourbonette Oaks Mar. 14.

Pedigree Notes:
