Ciara O'Connor Departs Montaigu

Ciara O'Connor, a familiar face on the Montaigu team

Irish-born Ciara O'Connor will be leaving Haras de Montaigu on Friday after 20 years as a hugely popular and key member of the team at the French farm.

“Ciara's charming accent, unwavering smile, and good humour in all circumstances will be greatly missed by all of us at the stud,” said Montaigu owner Sybille Gibson. “She knew how to make herself unanimously appreciated by all the members of staff as well as by each of our clients, to whom she always listened attentively and effectively.

“With Ciara there is never a problem but always a solution and never have we seen her lose her composure and her imperturbable calm. In 20 years we have been able to appreciate the complete horsewoman that is Ciara, her immense knowledge of Thoroughbreds, the breeding and racing environment, and her perfect organisation in her work.”

Irène Carlucci, a native Italian who also speaks fluent French and English, will be taking over O'Connor's role at Haras de Montaigu, where Carlucci has been previously employed.

Gibson added, “Like Ciara, she gained solid experience in the field before joining us as an administrative assistant. She will be keen to continue Ciara's work with the same rigour, devotion and love for horses and breeding.”
