CELESTINE (m, 5, Scat Daddy–Mona Mia, by Monarchos), acquired for $2.55 million by Irish-based Moyglare Stud at last year's Keeneland November sale, was sharp in this first start for Christophe Clement. Hard ridden to grab the lead from GISW Catch a Glimpse (City Zip), the 4-5 chalk set comfortable enough splits with her main competition glued to her right flank throughout. She quickened away from Catch a Glimpse willingly when called upon, and hit the line 2 1/2 lengths to the good in 1:34.59. Celestine aired in last June's GI Just a Game S. for Bill Mott and owner Phaedrus Flights. Third in Keeneland's GI First Lady S.
