BSA Introduces Breeder Cash Relief

Bloodstock South Africa will incorporate a R2-million (£117,727/€129,289) cash relief for breeders to its 2018 sales programme. The cash relief, applicable to the company's four major sales, will include dropping or reduction of entry fees, reduction of sales commissions and sales costs on median-priced horses being reduced by 30%.

“The [Thoroughbred Breeders Association] have been in existence for close on a century and South African breeders, besides their proven ability to produce world-class Thoroughbreds, are known for their hardiness,” said BSA Chief Executive Officer Michael Holmes. “We have endured a tough few years, but there is more than a glimmer of hope on the horizon on the export protocol front and our product remains a sought after one at home and on the world stage. We need to keep doing things right, even in the face of adversity, and we believe that a professional approach, and setting the right course for a tightly run ship, will produce the required results in the medium term.”
