Brametot Still Possible For Arc

Dual French Classic winner Brametot (Ire) (Rajsaman {Fr}) is still under consideration for the Oct. 1 G1 Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, according to Harry Herbert, racing manager for part-owner Al Shaqab Racing. Brametot, who is campaigned by Al Shaqab in partnership with Gerard Augustin-Normand, won the G1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains and the G1 Prix du Jockey Club this spring but was beaten 9 3/4 lengths when fifth in the G2 Prix Guillaume d'Ornano at Deauville on Aug. 15.

“He came back very sore and stiff all over,” said Herbert. “He's being given a proper once-over and [trainer] Jean-Claude [Rouget] wants him spot-on before he commits to any plan. I felt he moved badly to post and maybe he tweaked something jumping off because he certainly didn't want to jump off leaving the stalls. He never looked comfortable at any stage so maybe he did it before the actual race. The Arc hasn't been ruled out, though.”
