Box Office Hit (Idol) became the first winner for her freshman sire (by Curlin) with a runaway debut victory in a state-bred maiden special weight at Thistledown Thursday.
Tabbed as a 3-1 shot for her debut, she exited the outside gate to race in the middle of the pack up the backstretch. She made a strong move around the far turn, which put her into contention by the top of the lane. Striking the front at the eighth pole, the chestnut left her rivals behind to graduate by 6 1/4 lengths.
The winner is a half-sister to Cadet Corps (Will Take Charge), MGSP, $503,246. Boxford Belle handed Box Office Hit a full-sister last year, but she was not reported as bred for this past foaling season.
