The Chris Waller-trained Boban (Aus) (Bernardini–Kenbelle {Aus}, by Kenmare {Fr}), recently retired after bleeding post-race in the Feb. 27 G1 Futurity S., passed away in a freak paddock accident reported justhorseracing.com.au. The five-time Group 1 winner had bled in the 2014 edition of the G1 Queen Elizabeth S. and with this second bleeding episode in February, had been banned from Australian racing, resulting in his retirement. Beginning his career in 2012, the bay raced for six seasons, amassing A$2,818,663 (US$2,162,064) during a 37-start career. Boban, who raced for an ownership group, was first past the post 11 times, taking the top flight G1 Emirates Cantala S., G1 Doomben 10,000, G1 Chipping North S., G1 Star Epsom and G1 New Zealand Bloodstock Memsie S.
