Baltas and Brown Face Off in Gamely

The GI Gamely S. looks like a face off between Chad Brown and Richard Baltas as they each saddle a strong pair of runners in this Memorial Day event at Santa Anita. Baltas has the home court advantage and he sends out GI American Oaks victress Lady Prancealot (Ire) (Sir Prancealot {Ire}) with East Coast-based rider John Velazquez in the irons. Also victorious in Keeneland's GIII Valley View S. last October, she was most recently fourth to the reopposing Keeper Ofthe Stars (Midnight Lute) in the GII Buena Vista S. here Feb. 22.

Her stablemate Bodhicitta (GB) (Showcasing {GB}) enters off a pair of local victories. Rallying to victory in a Feb. 1 optional claimer, she followed suit with another victory in an N2X Mar. 8, good enough for an 85 Beyer Speed Figure.

One of Brown's runners, Etoile (Fr) (Siyouni {Fr}), makes her first start on American soil here. The bay won three times in Europe for trainer Jean-Claude Rouget, including the G3 Prix Cleopatre. She was last seen finishing ninth in the G1 Prix de l'Opera in October and receives Lasix for the first time in her U.S. debut.

Brown also saddles Beautiful Lover (Arch), who played the bridesmaid in her last two outings. Winner of Monmouth's Boiling Springs S. last summer, the dark bay was second in the Sunshine Millions F/M Turf Jan. 18 and the GII Hillsborough S. at Tampa Mar. 7.
