An Old Tune

Music Lover | Scoop Dyga

Some pretenders to the G1 Prix de Diane gather at Saint-Cloud on Sunday for the G3 Prix Penelope, which surprisingly does not have a winner of that Classic on its honour roll since Pawneese (Ire) in 1976. The first four home in the Listed Prix Rose de Mai over 10 furlongs here on Mar. 11 all re-oppose, with Olivier Carli's Music Lover (Fr) (Palace Episode) having emerged best from Mademoiselle Marie (Fr) (Evasive {GB}), Listen In (Ire) (Sea the Stars {Ire}) and Sistercharlie (Ire) (Myboycharlie {Ire}). The latter has since beaten Baron Edouard de Rothschild's Palombe (Ire) (Nathaniel {Ire}) in a course-and-distance conditions event on Apr. 2, but as the latter hails from the Andre Fabre stable and lacked fitness there it would be no surprise to see that form overturned. Jean-Claude Rouget's stable may be under a cloud at present, but Ecurie des Monceaux and Ecurie Skymarc Farm's Rythmique (Ire) (Casamento {Ire}) is worthy of respect coming off a win in a Toulouse conditions race over a mile and a quarter on Mar. 18.
