Oasis Dream | Juddmonte

Observations on the European Racing Scene turns the spotlight on the best European races of the day, highlighting well-pedigreed horses early in their careers, horses of note returning to action and young runners that achieved notable results in the sales ring. Wednesday's Insights features a daughter of G2 Blandford S. winner and G1 Yorkshire Oaks third Eleanora Duse (Ire).

2.40 Pontefract, Cond, £8,000, 2yo, 6fT
CAPESTHORNE (IRE) (Oasis Dream {GB}) is one of the last clutch of Ballymacoll homebreds to race in the pale blue for Sir Michael Stoute and a significant debutante as a daughter of the 2010 G2 Blandford S. winner and G1 Yorkshire Oaks third Eleanora Duse (Ire) (Azamour {Ire}). Of those she encounters here, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum's fellow newcomer Dowitcher (Lonhro {Aus}) is of interest as a Mark Johnston-trained daughter of the 1998 G1 Blue Diamond S. heroine Danelagh (Aus) (Danehill) who has already produced the MG1SW Vengeance of Rain (NZ) (Zabeel {NZ}) and his 2005 G1 Australian Oaks-winning full-sister Dizelle (Aus).

7.05 Kempton, Cond, £7,000, 2yo, f, 7f (AWT)
FINAL SET (IRE) (Dark Angel {Ire}) is another intriguing debutante for the Stoute stable, being a 700,000gns purchase at Tattersalls October for one of Freemason Lodge's longstanding patrons Saeed Suhail. The full-sister to the G3 Sweet Solera S. runner-up Midnite Angel (Ire) meets another unraced filly of note in Cheveley Park Stud's Verandah (GB) (Medicean {GB}), a John Gosden-trained half-sister to the operation's 2009 G2 Windsor Forest S. winner and MG1SP Spacious (GB) (Nayef).
