Farrier Jude Florio on New Techniques

The saying of 'No hoof, No horse' is a phrase often used in the horse world and based on the reasoning that, farriers, as the custodian of the foot, quite literally hold the success, or the lack thereof, of the performance horse in their hands. Often dubbed the 'second oldest profession' in the world, farriery has come a long way since its humble beginnings and over time, the techniques and materials used have evolved from rudimentary to highly sophisticated. In an effort to advance farriery, the Royal Veterinary College (University of London) in England created the Graduate Diploma in Applied Equine Locomotor Research (Grad Dip ELR).
