Horse Of The Year; One For Next Year

Continuing our series, Adam Houghton reveals his love affair with the Juddmonte International and where the latest name on the roll of honour ranks among his York greats. Horse of the year: City Of Troy 'Boring!' I can almost hear the cries of derision from the desk here in my box room, the accusation that I'm simply following the crowd with another accolade for the mantelpiece of City Of Troy's altogether more roomy box at Coolmore Stud. True, I'm unlikely to win any prizes for originality with this selection, but...

Amo Racing's €1-Million Arqana Breezer Angelo Buonarroti Graduates in York's Convivial Maiden

Amo Racing's Angelo Buonarroti (Justify--Curlylocks {Ire}, by Galileo {Ire}) was the second highest-priced lot when selling for €1-million at Arqana's Breeze-Up sale earlier this year and went some way to justifying that lofty price tag with a breakthrough success in Friday's British Stallion Studs EBF Convivial Maiden Stakes at York. The February-foaled chestnut, who first went through the ring for $135,000 as a Keeneland September yearling, was initially trained by Dominic Ffrench Davis, but was transferred to the Raphael Freire yard before posting a three-length debut ninth when highly tried...
