Weather Forces Cancellation Of Final Three at Gulfstream

Heavy rains and high winds combined with a forecast indicating that conditions would only worsen forced the cancellation of Saturday's final three races at Gulfstream Park outside of Miami. The $100,000 H. Allen Jerkens S., which had already been transferred to the Tapeta track, has been rescheduled for Sunday, Dec. 24 and will be redrawn. The Christmas Eve program will also feature the running of the $125,000 Via Borghese S. for turf females. Live racing is expected to resume Sunday at Gulfstream, with a first post of 12:10 p.m. ET.

Santa Anita Cancels Holiday Monday Program

With additional rain forecast in the area, officials at Santa Anita have announced the cancellation of the live card originally programmed for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 16. As was announced when the track revealed that the Saturday, Jan. 14 program was also to be called off, racing will take place Friday, Jan. 20, originally a dark day due to the holiday racing. Churchill Cancels Wednesday Card Due to Excessive Heat

Wednesday's eight-race program at Churchill Downs has been cancelled because of excessive heat in the Louisville area. A National Weather Service excessive heat warning for Louisville remains in effect until Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET. Heat index values of 105 to 109 are forecasted for Wednesday. Cancellations of races at Churchill Downs because of weather conditions are rare. Wednesday's cancellation was the 22nd in track history and only the second related to extreme heat, joining June 28, 2012. Racing at Churchill Downs is scheduled to resume Thursday at 5 p.m....

Laurel Cancels Live Racing Monday

Having returned from a brief hiatus with a full program Sunday, Jan. 16, Laurel Park was forced to cancel its holiday racing card Monday due to the lingering effects of a winter storm that swept through the Midlantic region Sunday. Rain Forces Woodbine Cancellation

Heavy rains in the Greater Toronto area that first forced a postponement of Thursday's live program at Woodbine resulted in 'unfavorable conditions' on the Tapeta track and led to the cancellation of the card. Woodbine's maintenance team was to continue working on the synthetic surface for the remainder of the day Thursday and into Friday and live racing is scheduled to resume at 4:50 p.m. local time with an eight-race program.
