Live Racing at Fair Grounds Canceled Friday

Following excessive rain overnight and throughout the morning and after a consultation between track management and the stewards, a joint decision was made to cancel Friday's card at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots. Live racing will resume on Saturday, Dec. 31 with the regular post time of 1:15 p.m. CT. The 10-race card features a quartet of stakes including the $100,000 Woodchopper, $100,000 Pago Hop, and a pair of $100,000 Louisiana Futurities.

Laurel Postpones Stakes-Laden Saturday Card

Laurel Park was forced to push back its entire nine-race Winter Sprintfest card--including the GIII Runhappy Barbara Fritchie S. and GIII General George S.--one week from Saturday, Feb. 13 to Feb. 20 due to a winter storm. The card also includes four $100,000 listed stakes. Racing is scheduled to be held Sunday, Feb. 14 and on Presidents Day, Monday, Feb. 15.

Fair Grounds Cancels Thursday's Card

Due to severe weather conditions in the New Orleans area prior to the start of Thursday's races, Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots canceled their nine-race card. Live racing will resume Friday afternoon with a traditional 1 p.m. CT post time and a nine-race card.

Several French Tracks Cancel Sunday Cards, ParisLongchamp Still Greenlit

Several racecourses have cancelled their Sunday cards due to the heavy rains and storms sweeping across France, Equidia reported on Saturday. A trotting card at Cazaubon was cancelled and rescheduled for Sunday, Oct. 12, while a mixed card at Vitre has been postponed for a yet-to-be-determined date. Saint-Brieuc's Thoroughbred card was also cancelled. The Arc card at ParisLongchamp on Sunday is still being held.
