Part two of the Weatherbys Bloodstock Sales Review 2019 has been published and is available for purchase online and at Goffs and Tattersalls. The review provides an in-depth analysis of all Thoroughbreds sold at public auction in Europe last year, in addition to foals and yearlings sold in North America sired by European-based stallions. The information contained includes averages and medians for both colts and fillies of different age classes by sire; vendors and purchasers; leading sires lists; extensive editorial; and top lots from major sales.

Tattersalls February Closes With Gains

The two-day Tattersalls February Sale came to a close on Friday with figures well up on the 2019 renewal. With the catalogue size down slightly, 305 horses went through the ring with 264 sold for a clearance rate of 87%, compared to 85% a year ago. The average settled at 12,350gns, up 16% on last year, while the median rose 30% to 6,500gns. Despite the smaller offering, the aggregate was up at 3,260,300gns. Figures Up At Goffs UK January Opener

National Hunt mares and short yearlings took to the ring at Doncaster on Tuesday for the first of two sessions of the Goffs UK January Sale. The session returned increases across the board, with the average up 22% to £11,551 and the median soaring 42% to £8,500. The clearance rate for the 108 horses sold was 68%. Silvano Colt Tops Cape Sale

A colt by South African champion sire Silvano (Ger) took top billing at the Cape Premier Yearling Sale staged in Cape Town on Thursday. Offered as lot 99 by Drakenstein Stud, the bay was bought by Nicholas Jonsson for R3-million (£159,394/€187,124). Tattersalls Releases February Sale Catalogue

Tattersalls has released the catalogue for its two-day February Sale on Jan. 30 and 31, with the listed-winning and Group 3-placed Sivoliere (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) (lot 136), in foal to Kingman (GB), expected to be among the highlights of the 401 fillies, broodmares, colts and geldings, yearlings and 2-year-olds catalogued. The 8-year-old Sivoliere is carrying her fourth foal.
