Gulfstream, FHBPA Eye Opportunities For Florida-Breds During Fall Meet

Gulfstream Park and the Florida Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association (FHBPA) are currently developing a 2026 fall racing schedule designed to provide expanded opportunities for Florida-bred horses with fewer restrictions, 1/ST Racing said in a press release on Friday. As part of this effort, FHBPA President Tom Cannell expressed strong support for owners purchasing Florida-bred 2-year-olds at the upcoming Ocala Breeders' Sales (OBS). Six-Day Los Al Meet Starts Friday

The six-day winter Thoroughbred meet at Los Alamitos will begin Friday, Dec. 9. Racing will be conducted Friday-Sunday both weeks with a 12:30 p.m. post time. The meet will be highlighted by the GI Starlet S. Dec. 10, offering 10 points towards the GI Kentucky Oaks, and GII Los Alamitos Futurity S. Dec. 17, with 10 points towards the GI Kentucky Derby. Timonium Meet Kicks off Aug. 26

Thoroughbred racing at the Timonium meet runs Aug. 26 through Sept. 6 during the Maryland State Fair. The meet will conduct the $125,000 Timonium Distaff S. Aug. 27. A $20,000 trainers' awards will be offered this year, sponsored by the Maryland State Fair. Grooms awards will also be given to the best turned out in each race. Annual College Day at the Fair will take place Aug. 27. Eleven $1,000 college scholarships are awarded to preregistered full time college students in attendance.
