by Christina Bossinakis, Alan Carasso & Jessica Martini LEXINGTON, KY - The Fasig-Tipton November Sale, led by the $6.2-million Streak of Luck (Old Fashioned), produced strong results with increases in average and median over its 2024 renewal during its single session Monday in Lexington. "The market was very, very good, but it's still rational," Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning said. "I think that's one of the things that we've seen in recent years during the November sale that there is still a sense of rationality to it. The buyers are demanding....

Demand Surges for Japanese Yearlings: 99% Clearance and a JRHA Select Sale Debut for John Stewart

HOKKAIDO, Japan -- "I expected it would be lively," said Katsumi Yoshida, in what may have been the understatement of the day at the conclusion of the yearling section of the JRHA Select Sale. Even by its own lofty standards, Japan's premier sale of bloodstock managed to raise the bar higher still, with only two of the 227 yearlings to pass through the ring on Monday failing to find a buyer. A 99 per cent clearance rate would be the envy of any sales house, and with the turnover of...

Diversification Key in Northern Farm's Global Outlook

Even a cursory glance through the pages of the catalogue for the JRHA Select Sale in Japan each year would give an instant impression that there is almost no corner of the globe which is unexplored by Katsumi Yoshida in recruiting mares for his Northern Farm. Mind you, it's not simply readymade breeding prospects with top-class form on the shopping list. Over the last few years, Yoshida's name has appeared on the buyers' list at foals sales in Europe, and Northern Farm's representative Shingo Hashimoto was in action again at...
