TCA Awards Over $1M in Grants

Edited Press Release Thoroughbred Charities of America (TCA) announced today that grants totaling nearly $1,070,000 will be awarded this year. A record 92 grant applications were received earlier this year during the organization's annual grant cycle. Ultimately, 70 organizations were approved for a grant including 45 aftercare organizations, 16 backstretch and farm worker programs, five equine-assisted therapy organizations, three Thoroughbred incentive programs and one research organization. PA Breeders Distribute Grants

The Pennsylvania Horse Breeders distributed $41,625 in breeder grants ranging from $375 to $1500 this week to help needy members with feed and veterinary bills, according to their executive secretary, Brian Sanfratello. "Prominent breeders like Chuck Zacney and Glenn Bennett stepped up to the plate with generous donations to the cause," said Sanfratello in an email release. Grants Available for Pennsylvania Breeders

The Pennsylvania Horse Breeders Association will begin offering grants for breeders, the group announced in a letter Wednesday afternoon. "Thanks to the generosity of Chuck Zacney and Glenn Bennett, along with a contribution from the PHBA, we are happy to announce that we are offering grants to help alleviate some of the financial hardship you are experiencing," the letter read. The Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance issued its second round of grant checks early in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The grants totaled $1.7 million.
