The Maryland Jockey Club was alerted to a horse displaying neurological abnormalities in its hind limbs Apr. 14, and the horse in question subsequently tested positive for Equine Herpesvirus (EHV), according to a Maryland Jockey Club release. The quarantine of Barn 15 at Belmont Park will expire next Saturday at 3 p.m. The barn had been placed in quarantine Feb. 3 when an unraced filly trained by Danny Gargan presented acute neurological symptoms and was subsequently euthanized. Test Confirms Positive EHV Case At Belmont; Barn Quarantine Extended To 21 Days

Cute Curls (Tapiture), a filly trained by Danny Gargan, was euthanized Saturday after displaying acute neurological symptoms. Cornell University has since returned a positive test result for EHV in Barn 15 at Belmont Park, the New York Racing Association announced Sunday. Barn 15 is now under a 21-day quarantine but no other horses have thus far presented symptoms. NYRA's veterinary department, headed by Dr. Sarah Hinchliffe, will oversee quarantine procedures and the 24 horses stables in Barn 15 will continue to be monitored.

Kentucky Provides Updates on EHV, Movement Protocols From Gulfstream Park

Gulfstream Park confirmed Sunday a case of EHV on grounds in Barn 21. "On Jan. 21, Gulfstream Park identified a horse who was displaying signs of EHV," the track said in a statement. "That horse was immediately transferred to Rood & Riddle Veterinary Hospital in Wellington and the affected barn, barn 21 was placed in immediate quarantine.
